This Blogging Thing Keeps Me Busy

I honestly do not know what I would be doing right now if I were not blogging. Probably watching mindless TV. It gets me up and gets me out of the house. I just love to work on my blog!  The rain here in Maryland has finally gone away. I was able to take a walk down to the creek this morning. There were so many things to take pictures of.  I was expecting our creek to be overflowing with run off from our recent deluge. The water had been high but has since gone down. 

I have walked down to the creek a handful of times since I have had all my surgeries and chemo treatments. I had always stopped at the top of the cliff and have not gone down the steep hill. Today I ventured down the steep hill, over the fallen tree, and down the narrow muddy path.

   

As I went down the path I thought to myself that it was slippery and I could fall. I went anyway, and I am glad I did. It was quiet, and peaceful. It felt good to be down there.  I saw a blue heron fly off at the noise I was making. Darn I wish I had gotten a shot of that. He was beautiful, but I was not quick enough.

 

Everything was still wet from the rain and I was able to get some really good shots. I wish my camera was not broken. Right now I am using HES's Camera, it does the job but I like mine better.

After my trip back up the hill I stopped by to visit Arial.  She is always there waiting to visit with me. If she could fit in my pocket I honestly think she would jump right on in. She is always happy to see me. The treats that I always have in my pockets help a little I guess but I like to think it's me she wants to see.

I gave her a little grass to nibble on and gave her a nice long ear scratch. She seemed to really enjoy that!

Feeling Guilty

I know it's crazy but I am feeling a bit guilty. I feel great. I feel as though I should feel crappy, but I don't I feel pretty darn good.

I am finding today that I am a little uninspired to write much of anything. So I thought I would brighten up my blog with a picture of a daffodil that my daughter picked me. She has been arriving at the door everyday with a new flower for me. I really am enjoying them. Thanks SES!

I'm out and about

I am driving! Yesterday I was bound and determined to get out by myself. I sent my girls off to school and then got ready. It was exciting. I felt independent for the first time in weeks. I got in my huge Mommy mobile that guzzles lots of gas and I was off. I gave one of my Starbucks buddies (SF) a call and it was all planned out in less than 2 minutes. I arrived at Starbucks unscathed. I admit I was a bit nervous about merging into traffic for the first time. (not that traffic around here is that busy) I was mostly nervous about being able to move my arms quick enough and be able to look both ways etc. It was a cinch. I walked into my Starbucks at which before surgery I frequented just about every day ( the baristas all know what I will order before I speak and make it as soon as my shadow reaches the door).  It was so nice to walk in the door. I had a sense of normalcy and independence. I did it! I sat down in my usual spot and conversed with one of my many starbucks acquaintances. He was wondering were I had been. I told him everything that had happened in the last 3 weeks or so. He was so glad to see me and was so glad to see I was doing so well. My three Starbucks buds showed up shortly there after. I had so much fun! Thanks guys! I really missed our weekly Mommy gab-sessions.

Today I am off to Target with my friend KP and my God daughter CWP. I am so excited. Target IS my favorite store. Where else can you go and get just about anything you could possibly want? Groceries, clothing, cosmetics, household items. It makes me so happy. For those that do not know, normally I am there at least twice a week. So Here is to doing "normal" things and being independent.

My First Post!!!

Well here I go! This is my first post. I am so excited to be blogging.

I created this blog to keep in touch with my friends and family and draw support from them while I battle breast cancer. One week ago I had a double mastectomy. My thought was that I have lots of time on my hands, and what better way to keep busy than keeping everyone up to date on what is going on here on Spruce Hill.

It is Valentines day. The theme of the day is chocolate! (I can’t make it through my day without it) Today After waking up my family gathered around the kitchen table to exchange cards and little gifts. It was a very happy moment in my day. I am so blessed with my wonderful husband and daughters.  Today I have the privilege to meet my new Oncologist. I will find out what kind of chemo I will go through,when it will happen, and what to expect. What a fun thing to do on Valentines day. Don’t get me wrong, I want to go and get this over with. I want to make plans and know what lies around the corner. If they had not found my cancer I would not have a future.

The sun is shining in the valley. I can’t wait to get out there and be able to walk and visit my furry friends out at the barn. I miss taking my kids to school and picking them up. I miss cooking for my family and helping everyone through their day. So that is my focus, my goal. To be able to do just one little thing that I could not do yesterday. One day at a time one thing at a time. With a smile on my face and a prayer in my heart.
