Always waiting

One of our new goats Cocoa has a favorite spot at the fence.

 
I can see her spot from my bathroom window. Whenever I pass by it I look out and there she is, standing and waiting. Looking towards the house.

In the sunshine and in the rain.

 Waiting for cookies? Or maybe just a scratch.

I know that goats like to stand on things but I'm thinkin that her legs get tired standing there. When my hubby comes into the kitchen he says "Your goat is out there waiting for you!"

  She's a funny little thing. I think I'm going to have to find something else for her to stand on though.

My thighs hurt just watching her!
  

Thankful

The weather outside is rainy, dreary and cold. I need some brightness in my day.

 
I found so much color outside in the last few days of sunshine. Fall is in full swing and the trees are blazing with color.

   


 
The girls are finally all back at school after a week of H1N1. They did not have really bad cases, thank goodness. Little E had it the worst, she bounced back well though. I am thankful for my healthy kids today,

New Furry Friends

Saturday marked the arrival of two new additions to our little farm. Meet Tinky and Cocoa. Tinky is a Toggenburg and Cocoa is an Alpine goat.

We are new in the wonderful world of goats. We have had sheep but never goats. I wish we had had them sooner. They are so sweet and have so much personality.

This is Tinky formally known as Jody. She is very sweet and is very interested in Chloe, our yellow lab.

 
Chloe in turn is very much interested in her. She spent a good part of yesterday sniffing them and trying to figure out just what they were.

Sadie is steering clear of the animals as usual. She thinks all the animals are evil and shoot lightning bolts from their eyes.

This is Cocoa, formerly known as Marney. She has a very curious personality and has spent the better part of her time here with us watching us from over the fence.

 
She spent all afternoon in this position watching my Hubby mow.

I love her coloring. She had three babies this year and lost them all, and has had mastitis a couple of times. We have a bond, I know just how she feels. She is my favorite of the two, don't mention that to Tinky.

Their job ultimately is to look cute and keep our Arial company. They are doing a fabulous job so far.

I had a great time taking pictures of them yesterday with my new Nikon D60. I must have taken 500 photos yesterday alone. I love it, it has changed my life. I have not yet explored all the settings yet but I have lots of time to experiment.

I have enough pictures for posts for a week or two!

Catching Up

This weekend was fun. I spent Saturday evening catching up with old friends at my high school reunion. It was so great seeing everyone. I was so thankful for the name tags. Some of us have changed over the years. I got lots of encouragement from my classmates, and got lots of hugs and well wishes. It is so nice knowing there are so many people routing for me! Thanks everyone! They had some raffles and raised quite a bit of money for Susan G. Komen, It was a great thing to do.

Miss E had another cake to make this weekend. She did such a great job on it. So far she has done four cakes and has two more orders in the coming weeks. It is official she now has more cash then I do!

Arial got the royal treatment yesterday with a bath and a full grooming, complete with..

 A pedicure.

It was such a warm day, we sat in the grass for a long time soaking in the sun. While we sat there Miss H spotted a bird. We were so excited when we realized it was a bald eagle. It soared over for a long time. We did not get any good shots though. My camera does not have a great zoom on it. To bad I don't have my SLR yet!

After Arial had her pampering session and got nice and dry and had some peppermints we tucked her away in her paddock and she took a little snooze in the sun. We rode over to the farm and waited for Tempest to be delivered to our trainers place. She came right off the trailer and we put her in with her old buddies. 

Everyone was very interested in her. Luckily there was not too much drama, Just a bit of squealing.

And a buck or two. After a bit she was all settled in. I am sure she will be a bit sleepy today.It will be nice for her to get some ring work in. Hopefully we will find a buyer for her soon!
