Happy Birthday!

To My two big brothers who are identical twins. They were born on April first. My Mom was not expecting twins. When the doctor told my Dad that she had twins he said, well I can't say that word here so lets just say that he was very surprised! After all the shock had worn off he made all his important phone calls to tell everyone the good news of the birth of his newly born sons. No one believed him. Yup because it was April Fools Day!

Happy birthday J and A! You are so totally closer to 50 than I am!

A Wonderful Holiday

 

We had a wonderful holiday here on Spruce Hill! We spent a very quiet morning on Christmas morning. Opening gifts and enjoying the day. Santa was very good to the girls this year, and they did not receive any coal at all! We ended our day with dinner at my parents house who live just a few miles away.

Yesterday our cousins arrived from North Carolina, we have not seen much of all five of the girls since they arrived. They do emerge for meals and snacks. The girls are perfecting their karaoke and flash light tag skills. It has been one big long buffet around here! We are enjoying all of my baking and have devoured most of the leftovers from our Christmas Eve dinner.

Thank you to all of my bloggy friends for all of your Christmas greetings. I have missed blogging these few days,but I have also enjoyed the break.

Having fun with scanners

My husband has a home office and works from home almost everyday. This has perks, Not only does he make his own schedule, but he has all kinds of fun office gadgets down there that I can use!

So I had him scan some photos for me. (I am a bit technically challenged in that avenue of photography)

This is me with my donkey Ajax. We got him on Christmas day as a surprise from my Uncle L and Aunt J. My parents were unaware of the surprise. Ajax liked to bite the cows so he left for greener pastures not too long after he arrived.

   

Heehaw Giddy up! Hmmm where did I learn to love four hoofed creatures?

 

My brother Andrew does not look as excited about his new found friend.

 

Here we are before my little brother was born. Getting our Christmas tree. We always went to our friends tree farm to get our tree. Our house now stands on 10 acres of that farm. Cool Huh? My big brothers are identical twins. It is very confusing to non family members.

Here we all are on Christmas day! A rose between 3 thorns, drinking orange juice. It must have been really yummy! My little brother looks really young and innocent in this picture, in his pooh bear pj's.

    

Here I am again on a different Christmas with one of my favorite gifts. I just loved that kitty mirror and brush set. It was furry. It also looks like I have an ornament attached to my bathrobe

      

This is my first Christmas. My brothers look like they are doing a really good job at keeping me from falling off the hearth. I look really excited.

I love the fact that I can scan old pictures and put them on my blog. I am now on a mission to find really embarrassing photos of my brothers. Paybacks!

Just chillin

  

We are just chilling tonight. We have had a really busy day full of shopping, baking and decorating.

  

We are all bushed! So we are watching Christmas shows on TV. All the classics.

  

Even Sadie is tired. On days like these I can really feel the fatigue. Still not quite up to 100%. I am ready for bed by 8:00.

          

Hopefully I will have the energy tomorrow to post a recipe.

Family (Stump) Roots

This afternoon Part of my family gathered at my brother's home. We took a little family field trip.

 

We went to a burial ground of many of our ancestors.

   

My great, great, great grandfather is buried here. Along with many others.

 

  

   

It was really neat standing there and listening to my Dad talking about all these people who are my relatives. He has gathered quite a bit of information on the subject. Our family has lived here in our county since colonial times.

 

 

 

This is the house that sits on the property that is now owned by the state of Maryland and is part of the Susquehanna State Park.

After a short drive we were able to see the original home called Stafford.

 

Then just a bit farther down we came to the Mill at Rock Run that was built in 1794 by my relative. The original mill was built in 1760.

 

It sits right along the Susquehanna river.

 

 

This is the house that sits just above the mill that was built in 1804.

 

It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about our relatives as a family group. It will stay in my memory for a very long time.
