Heavy Snow On Spruce Hill

Last night we had over twelve inches of snow. It's a very wet heavy snow. Hubs went out early and took some pictures for me. I got out later and got some shots as well. His have more blue sky in them. It is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful outside. (the first 4 photos are curtisy of Hubs)

The dogs don't quite know what to do. This is Finny's first deep snow. At the moment he is sleeping away on the couch.

 
I promised Little E last night I would go out with her and sled. I think I made her the happiest kid on earth. My butt weighed the sled down a bit, so it was not a fast run.

 
 
I don't think we will have school again tomorrow the roads are a mess. I am looking forward to snuggling up on the couch this afternoon with my book and a nice big cup of hot chocolate.

 

A quick update

 
I wanted to give everyone a quick update. Monday I had a PET scan to monitor my progress on the new drug I am getting called Eribulin. It's always a nervous time for me and it seems like the longest wait in the world. My doctor is very good about not sitting on good news, so if he calls I know it's going to be positve. He called yesterday afternoon and said that my scan showed a lot of improvement compared to my last scan (my last scan I back tracked quite a bit). So it's good news all around, the scan showed a measurable improvement in all the areas that I have cancer. After I hung up the phone my Hubs gave me a big hug and I lost it. Crying tears of joy. I felt the relief washing over me as I cried in his arms. Knowing that everything I am doing has a purpose and that it's working, it's really working.

It's Been Three Years

 
As of January 19th it has been three years since my breast cancer diagnosis. Since then my life changed forever. You never ever think you will hear the words you have cancer. It's a strange feeling. Almost like slow motion, your brain tries to wrap around the idea. It's hard to believe. The first thing that pops into your head is how much time do I have? No matter what your diagnosis is. It's there in your head just the same. Things change, what seemed important the day before seems insignificant.

I've learned a lot about life since that day.

-live life in the present

-when you plan your life out it doesn't always turn out the way you want it too.

-you make friends you would never have met if you had not been diagnosed with cancer.

-It is possible to love a person more than you imagined possible.

-people are more kind than you thought.

-you can do things you never thought you could.

-you find strength you didn't know you had.

-being doagnosed puts you outside of your comfort zone, it's a lot easier to step out of your comfort zone after that.

-I never thought I could shave my head and feel glad that I did.

-I never imagined in a million years I would be bald more then once in my lifetime.

-even strangers can be kind.

-food shows up in your kitchen even if you can't cook because you feel lousy.

-the small things turn out to be the most important things in your life.

-You can be friends with people from all over the world, and they are there at the click of a mouse.

I have changed, I have grown, I have cried, I have laughed and I have loved. These have been three of the hardest years of my life.

The dogs have had so much fun in the snow. They love going out for a romp a few times a day.

 
I get a kick out of watching Sadie and Finn play. At first all is quiet and almost Serene. Then sometimes it gets a little out of hand.

 

They open up a big can of Cugo and let it loose.

I think it ended in an even match. That much action makes a dog thirsty.

 

and the snow is the perfect thirst quencher.

Winter Morning

 

On Wednesday morning we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow. About 5 inches or so. It was such a pretty snow, the flakes were so big and fluffy and sparkled in the sunlight. I just had to get out with my camera.

 
 
 
 
It took my breath away. Where ever I turned I saw beauty.

 

The flakes were so visible.

 
It was so quiet and bright and clear. I really needed to get out and get some fresh air. To be by myself and enjoy the solitude.

 
It did the trick. I had some company on my walk but I will do a separate post for that.

 
 Today I just want to enjoy the quiet.
