I thought I would post a recipe because it's cold out, and you know how you like to eat when it's cold out! I made these Christmas morning. The kids were tired of eating monkey bread so I whipped up something different. PW has an awesome cinnamon roll recipe but it involves yeast and rising and it just scares me. So this is a really easy alternative.
These are Amazing shortcut cinnamon rolls, and boy are they yummy and so easy. Here is what you need.
For the rolls
- 2 cans (8 Oz. Can) Prepared Buttermilk Biscuits
- ½ cups Softened Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Sprinkled Cinnamon
- ½ cups Brown Sugar
For the icing
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Heavy Cream Or Half-and-Half
- ½ teaspoons Vanilla
Arrange biscuits with sides touching, in rows on a lightly floured surface. Press edges together, then using a rolling pin, roll them out to make a nice-sized rectangle. Spread evenly with a nice layer of softened butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon, however much you like. Then sprinkle with brown sugar. (You can even add raisins or dried fruit or whatever you like, experiment!)
Roll up starting with one long end; cut into 8 (about 2 inches thick) slices. Place rolls into a lightly greased round cake pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Stir together powdered sugar, cream and vanilla. Drizzle evenly over hot rolls.
So enjoy and if you are dieting like I am for the new year because you ate too much over the holidays I sincerely apologize!
Funny, I feel the same way about yeast and such so I thought I was safe. Now you bring us this! These are the first thing I'm making once I fit into my jeans again so THANKS ALOT.....no really thanks, they sound yummy and stepson and friends will love them.

Hey Sava! Sounds good..and EASY! I will avoid them like the PLAGUE (gained 6 pounds since I got married, but hey...) but James LOVES anything gooey and ooey. And lucky him? He NEEDED to put on a few! Happy New Year to ALL OF YOU! Bethel!

Well it is good to know that there is alternative out there to PW's cinnamon rolls that I've WANTED TO MAKE for what seems almost two years now. That yeast can be intimidating. Maybe we should report it to the Bully Police!

Oh, I will have to try these, thanks!! Yeast and rising scares me, too. I love to bake, and need to do it more often. Cooking is not my thing, but I can bake pretty well when I put the effort into it! One of my 2010 goals. I am going to bake some of these rolls this weekend and take them into the girls at work on Monday! ;)
I don't know what it is about the winter, but I can't stop eating sweets! Chocolate! It's insane. I bought a box of Twix bars at the drugstore the other day. And I'm still finishing holiday candy.

Those look so good! I really need to cut back though...how bout some salad? Sounds terrible on a freezing cold day like this doesn't it?

Hey, just dropped by to check out the rolls and they look delicious. I will have to try them, however, I usually prefer to work from scratch. I have been wanting to try PW's for a while and just haven't taken the time..! Love you web site and will visit again soon.
Thank you,
Dainty Dish
