I had so much fun today at the race! It was so emotional for me. But I digress I should talk about yesterday first because it was pretty special!
My friends from high school took me out to lunch. Two of my friends flew here from North Carolina just to be here with me this weekend! We had lunch at 1:30, then coffee and dessert and a little shopping. I got home at 6:30. We had so much fun I almost needed to wear a personal undergarment!
We got there a little late this morning. We needed to leave our house by 5:30 but left at 5:47 instead. I got there just in time to do half of the parade of survivors, and to stand for the survivor picture. You can't tell in this picture but there are tears streaming down my face! Big E took this picture. We were very disorganized and super Daddy and HES were setting up the team table at the time.
Here is my team table. Can you tell that it was really cold?
Little E had so much fun and here she is with my niece MLS.
Here I am with my friends again. From left to right, Lesley ( My best friend since 2nd grade),Debbie, Kelley, Bonnie (she made me cry a lot! we both are very emotional ;D ) and Me of course! I need to give you all a bit of background here at this point. My friend Lesley had gall bladder surgery two weeks ago. She was there with me, She is an awesome chic! Debbie had knee surgery three weeks ago, she walked with me. She is an awesome chic! Bonnie and Kelley are awesome chics too they just are healthy as horses!
I just got a kick out of these port-o-pots!
There is my Bro, John and his wife Pam and my niece again. She is such a happy girl! My Brother John has been very supportive the last nine months. I might have to start calling him my personal coffee boy! When I was recovering from my surgery and could not get to Starbucks, he would deliver it to me about three times a week :) Now we just meet at Starbucks cause I am healthy!
Here are some of us lined up and ready to go.
Here is the starting line.
There were people for as far as you could see. My friend Bonnie is REALLY TALL and took this picture.
Here is the crew just about to finish.
Here I am finishing. My friend Kelley took the picture and my friend Bonnie got the announcer to say my name on the loud speaker. (She made me cry! again!)
Here are some of us after the finish. I am not falling down in this picture. Although it looks that way. See the lady there in the brown sweatshirt? She is my Mom and she kicked everybody's butt! She is in her 70's (sorry Mom) and she beat all of our slow young butts!
I cried off and on all day. It was such an emotional thing for me. At times while I was walking I would see a sign on the back of someone's shirt that said in memory of..... and would just loose it all over again. It was overwhelming! I am here and I am strong! Thanks to everyone who supported me today!
Oh and Karen (and Karen's Mom), Missy, and Kim, Eric and Harrison, you kicked all our butts and ran the whole way! You rock!
Watch this video!
Great work by all the Team Sarah members! Sorry we could not be there. Moms has always walked faster than the rest of us, must be the Herman blood.

It was an awesome day. Your pictures were great. I know how fun it was to have all of your buddies there to support you. I cried too. It was tough watching all the people walking with their moms and in honor of their moms. I know how awesome it is for you to be a survivor and be a mom to your girls. This is a tough week for me and I miss my mom and couldn't help thinking about all of those people walking missing their moms too.
