We have a lot of creepy crawlies around here on Spruce Hill.
This guy was inside my sliding door this morning. When I opened the door to let the cool morning air in he was sitting there, it kind of startled me. Then I ran to grab my camera.
We have them every where. On the front porch, out the back door and outside the sliding doors. The are mostly out at night and leave their calling cards everywhere.
I really love his color and all his bumps and patterns on his skin, or her skin.
I had fun taking pictures of this guy the other day as I was reading on the porch in my favorite chair.
He was not at all happy with me taking his picture. He had just shed his skin and was busy licking himself. He attacked my camera a coupe of times. He was pretty aggressive, it made me a little nervous. Then he jumped onto my camera and scared the ba-jesus out of me.
Here is the picture I took when he jumped me.
After that traumatizing experience I decided to switch to kinder gentler bugs.
I just love the spots on this guy.
These guys creep me out too. They kept dive bombing us.
I am not sure what kind of bug they are but I think they might be June bugs. They are really large.
Sometimes it feels like somebody's watching me!

Those are great pictures! I set out a toad house a month ago, but have yet to see any friends :o)

We get toads on our front porch at night that leave us presents too... I don't like these guys. BUT, I do dig walking sticks and we have had a couple on the porch as well. Had one in Arizona that lived in our tree on a permanent basis and he was quite aggressive too. But they are pretty cool to watch... Nice photos today!

I like the frog and the praying mantis! But the other bugs give me the creepy crawly feeling! They do have some beautiful colors, though!

Yikes, I don't think I would have liked that bug jumping at me, either! Usually they jump away (except for crane flies, I swear those things aim right for me!) At least you got to play with your macro, which is always so great. You use a point and shoot, right??

I would not want that big guy jumping on me either! We have seen them from time to time here but I keep my distance. You are braver than me! Love the pics of everything...especially those blueberries!

Beautiful pics !! I think the scary guy at the end that jumps on you is a Japanese Beetle ! I could be wrong , but that's what he looks like. We have so many of them around here this time of year (Cleveland)

I am loving those bug photos! We are also blessed with all manner of creepy crawlies here too-and we had a bat in the house last night. Not pleasant!

Ok I love the frog, I've never seen one like that!
The praying mantis jumping on my camera would have really freaked me out.
I hate those big green beetle flying things, they are scary and sometimes fly right into you.

Hi ~ Love your blog! Awesome pics!! I enjoy coming daily to see what you've found to photograph. Yep - like Firefly said, those are Japanese beetle's. They hang in gardens & around plants. Dang things ate my fern. A real nusiance...
